BenjaminBernard, LLC is a professional management consulting services firm based just outside of Philadelphia, PA specializing in Strategic Sourcing Methodology, Supplier Diversity and Negotiations Training. We bring over 25 years of extensive buy and sell side strategic sourcing consulting experience across multiple industry sectors, while working with organizations of all sizes. Areas of expertise include core competencies in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier diversity, negotiations, business operations, business process re-engineering, marketing and product management. We are members of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, the National Urban League and the African-American Chamber of Commerce. To the extent that supplier diversity is a consideration for potential clients, we are also officially certified as a minority business enterprise by the National Minority Supplier Development Council. The goal is to migrate away from transactional procurement to an enhanced priority on total value. Going beyond purchasing and the transactional focus. Providing tools and techniques to establish a systematic, consistent, disciplined and strategic sourcing process designed to increase the investment efficiency of organizational monies spent to procure goods and services. Utilizing a 7-step strategic sourcing model, assist organizations to better understand total spend, rationalize the supplier base, take advantage of cross business unit synergies, better leverage organizational spend and realize reductions in costs. Critical activities include understanding the why of strategic sourcing, directing clients how to strategically segment spend, evaluate supply market dynamics, select appropriate sourcing strategies to realize desired results and establish a supplier base that becomes a source of longer term competitive differentiation.

Our firm looks to partner with organizations having an intentional and proactive strategy to translate their strong commitment to develop approaches to identify and include qualified diverse suppliers early in the sourcing process. The express purpose is to provide these qualified diverse suppliers every opportunity to not just participate but WIN business. This means they are identified up front, included in the RFI/RFP process, supplier pitch presentations, etc. We seek to work with organizations who understand the importance of changing not just the procurement mindset but the organizational mindset to one of inclusivity. Understanding of purpose, business case development rationale, need for current state assessment and goal-setting. We assist with program establishment and messaging, directing Tier 1 and Tier 2 spend analysis, segmentation and tracking of results. The ultimate objective is to cultivate stronger diverse supplier relationships, drive innovation, reduce costs and increase shareholder value.

The focus is on issue identification, discussion, understanding the needs and desired outcomes of the parties involved, preliminary planning and preparation, exchanging information, bargaining, closing and commitment to achieve optimal results. Ensuring familiarity with relevant concepts and establishment of appropriate negotiation tactics to include LAA, MDO and BATNA. We stress effective negotiations allowing for solutions acceptable to both parties and allowing each to feel good. Also, understanding leverage and bargaining power while engaging in principled negotiations. The key to negotiations success is avoiding win-lose scenarios to ensure meaningful and successful business relationships. Trading everything and driving towards win-win outcomes for participating parties.
